Frequently Asked Questions

Is Simplify a player?

Simplify is not a stand-alone player. However, Simplify allows you to control any of your desktop players in the most unobtrusive way. To use Simplify, you firstly need to launch your favourite player and start playing music on it.
Install Simplify and forget about switching to the player’s window while controlling its volume, seeking track, switching current track, viewing current track name and artwork.

What are the supported macOS versions for Simplify?

To purchase, install, and run Simplify, your device must be running macOS Mojave (10.14) or newer. Simplify may run in older versions of macOS, but we do not provide support for such environments.

Can I use Simplify on all my Mac systems?

Absolutely! A single purchase allows you to install Simplify on as many personal computers as you desire, including your family.

Is it possible to like currently playing song?

The answer is both yes and no. You can like Spotify tracks and cannot in other players. We do our best to add the feature available for other players, though.

I encounter a problem not listed here. Can you help me?

Sure! We will do our best to make you happy with Simplify. Just drop us a line to email, Twitter or Facebook and describe what problem you're having.

Can I use media keys with Spotify or Vox?

Yes, you can! To do that, you need to open Simplify’s preferences and tick the “Control playback using media keys” box under the Hotkeys tab. You will be prompted to install our small free helper app which lets media keys control players other than the Music, or iTunes, app.

I installed Simplify Helper but still can’t use media keys

Most likely, you didn’t grant Accessibility access for Simplify Helper. To do this, open System Preferences, then go to the Security & Privacy, find the Accessibility item in the list on the left, and tick the box on Simplify Helper on the right.
If it has been ticked already, make sure that the “Control playback using media keys” or “Control volume with volume keys” checkboxes are checked under the Hotkeys tab in Simplify’s preferences.

I can’t control Spotify/Music/Vox with Simplify. Send a rescue team!

Most likely, you didn’t grant Automation access for Simplify. To do this, open System Preferences, then go to the Security & Privacy, find the Automation item in the list on the left, and tick every box under Simplify on the right.

I used the previous version of Simplify and some features seem missing

Yes, we rebuilt Simplify 4 from the ground up and intentionally decided not to put all the features of Simplify 3 in the initial release. However, we would like to add some of them in the future — just let us know what you’re missing the most.

Can I get a refund?

We cannot give refunds ourselves since we don’t charge you directly, Apple does. If you are not happy with Simplify, you need to request a refund from Apple.
